Saturday 21st of April at 6pm in PinchukArtCentre (6th flour, video-lounge) there will be a lecture of young Brazilian artists Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain.

In the framework of the exhibition "Vik Muniz : A Survey" the PinchukArtCentre is pleased to present a lecture by the two young Brazilian artists Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain. Artists ,scenographers, musicians, and graphic designers, Detanico and Lain work with a wide range of media including installation, video, printed material and collage.

Based in France since their residency at Le Pavilion, Palais de Tokyo, they develop a polymorphous and conceptual work and turn the invisible in visible in creating for example their own three dimensional alphabet. Their video Flatland, about landscape and abstraction, received the Nam June Paik Award in Dortmund, Germany, in 2003. In 2005 they realised their first solo exhibition in France « About to say » at the  gallery Martine Aboucaya, Paris. This year they will represent the Brazilian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

This lecture will help the audience of the PinchukArtCentre to discover the new artists generation from Brazil. Representatives of art-community and all interested in contemporary art are invited.

Live and work in Paris

In 2007 Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain have presented their work at Fondation Ricard for Contemporary Art, Paris, in the Zadkine Museum with the solo exhibition « Inverse Times », Paris, the Biennal of Valencia, Spain and  in Cartagena in Colombia. In 2006 they have participated at the « Echigo Tsumari Art Biennal » in Japan, «  27e bienal Sâo Paulo », Sâo Paulo, Brazil and « Tropico Vegetal », Palais de Tokyo, Paris.
