“Cradles of hope” program launches a new Centre for rendering medical aid to the newborns

May 22 2007 in Chernivtsi a Centre for rendering medical aid to the newborns is launched. The "Cradles of hope" program has been active for a year already, and during this time Centres were opened in Chernigiv, Volodymyretz, Poltava, Dnipropetrivsk, Kyiv, Ovruch. In 2007 the Foundation plans to continue its work.

Within the framework of the "Cradles of hope" program the Foundation will supply up-to-date high quality equipment to medical facilities, hold educational trainings for the personnel, provide for networking and experience sharing between the Centres' staff. The program pursues two main goals: decreasing of the newborn's mortality rate and enhancing the quality of life for the saved children, helping the state in transition to the World Health Organization's standard since given the lack of special equipment and resuscitation skills transition to the new standard of statistics keeping results into a steep increase in the newborn's death rate.

In the opening ceremony will feature Volodymyr Kulish, head of the Chernivtsi region state administration; Roman Andrijchuk, head physician of the Chernivtsi regional children's hospital no.1; Shunko Elyzaveta Evhenevna, chief neonatalogist of the Ministry of Health Care of Ukraine, head of neonatology department at Snupik National Medical Academy for post-graduate education; Victor Pinchuk, founder of the Foundation.
