Victor Pinchuk Joins Corporate Advisory Board of the GBC

The Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) announced today that Victor Pinchuk, an international businessman and philanthropist who has spearheaded the Ukrainian private sector's response to AIDS, has joined its Corporate Advisory Board.

"The GBC is honored to welcome Victor Pinchuk as a member of our Corporate Advisory Board. There is no doubt that we will benefit tremendously from his increased involvement in the activities of the organization," said GBC Executive Director Dr. John Tedstrom. "I have worked personally with Victor on HIV-related issues for several years and am very excited that we can take our collaboration to the next level."

"GBC is doing a remarkable job worldwide; it is an absolutely unique organization and I am very honored to serve on its Corporate Advisory Board," said Victor Pinchuk.

In 2004, Mr. Pinchuk led Interpipe to become the first Ukrainian company to join GBC. In 2006, he announced a $2.5 million contribution to a joint initiative between the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, the ANTIAIDS foundation, which is run by his wife Elena Franchuk, and the Clinton Foundation. The project will provide Ukrainians with access to HIV testing, treatment and care. The ANTIAIDS foundation also is working closely with Sir Elton John on an AIDS awareness concert to take place in Kyiv on June 16.

Led by GBC President and CEO Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, the GBC Corporate Advisory Board consists of 22 member companies, reflecting the geographic and sectoral diversity of the organization's membership. It advises the GBC on its future strategic direction in spearheading the business fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) is an alliance of 220 international companies leading the private sector fight against these three epidemics.
