The PinchukArtCentre to open an exhibition of the shortlisted PinchukArtCentre Prize nominees on 31 October 2009

The PinchukArtCentre is pleased to present a new project - a group show of the 20 shortlisted nominees for the PinchukArtCentre Prize. The exhibition will be open from
31 October until 20 December. The show includes more than 110 works by young Ukrainian artists including: Myroslav Vayda, Artem Volokitin, Andrii Galashyn, Hamlet Zinkovskyi, Mykyta Kadan, Zhanna Kadyrova, Mayya Kolesnik, Volodymyr Kuznetsov, Lada Nakonechna, Oksana Protsenko, Oleksii Saj, Oleksii Salmanov, Olesia Khomenko, Oleksii Khoroshko, Ivan Chubukov, Masha Shubina and also BLUEMOLOKO, Hat, SOSka and SYN groups.

The PinchukArtCentre Prize award ceremony will take place on 4 December 2009 in Kyiv.

The 20 nominees for the PinchukArtCentre Prize, a nationwide prize in contemporary art for young Ukrainian artists up to 35 years old, were shortlisted by an Expert Committee from 1100 applicants.

The exhibition will be held on the 3rd and 4th floors of the art centre and present both the shortlisted works of art and the new works created by each artist especially for the exhibition. Olexander Soloviov will curate the show.

A unique highlight for this exhibition is that the works by the young artists will be presented in a context of an exhibition of Ukrainian contemporary art from the PinchukArtCentre collection. The parallel exposition entitled, "Red Forest", will present more than 40 selected works by seven seminal Ukrainian artists of 1990s: Serhiy Bratkov, Olexander Gnylytsky, Olexander Roitburd, Arsen Savadov and Georgy Senchenko, Vasyl Tsagolov, Illia Chichkan.

The winners of the two main prizes will be nominated by the International Jury formed from contemporary art world experts, including: artists, museum directors and curators. The jury will be announced at the press-preview on 29 October. The People's Choice Prize winner will be selected by votes of the visitors at the PinchukArtCentre Prize exhibition.

The PinchukArtCentre Prize Awards:
• Main Prize of the PinchukArtCentre is UAH 100 000 and an internship at the studio of a recognized artist in the world.
• Two Special Prizes of PinchukArtCentre are UAH 25 000 each and internships at the studios of a recognized artist in the world.
• People's Choice Prize is UAH 10 000. The winner will by selected by visitors to the PinchukArtCentre during the exhibition of 20 shortlisted nominees.
