The RECOVERY national network has inaugurated an innovative rehabilitation center for wounded soldiers in Rivne

Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, this multidisciplinary team will now offer high-quality free rehabilitation care to over 1,000 servicemen and women annually. This marks the 8th center to open as part of the national  RECOVERY project, founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk

RECOVERY stands as a successful partnership between the private sector and the state, in which philanthropists create innovative rehabilitation centers within state medical institutions. As part of the project, the rehabilitation department located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the clinic in Rivne was renovated, and the number  of beds in the department increased from 23 to 50.

The entire space of the rehabilitation center adheres to international inclusiveness standards, featuring spacious corridors with wide doorways, handrails, and sanitary facilities for patients with limited mobility. The wards are furnished with multifunctional beds equipped with electric controls and appropriate furniture to ensure a comfortable stay.

Oleksandr Shagera, the chief medical officer of the city hospital where the RECOVERY center is being launched, emphasized, "The modern rehabilitation center in Rivne, equipped with advanced medical equipment, unites the military and the medical team in a common desire to win. This is a place of faith and hope that translates into a tangible possibility of recovery through the collaborative efforts of a professional team. RECOVERY is an exclusive environment where our soldiers will receive support on their journey to an active and healthy life."

The treatment and rehabilitation area encompasses a physiotherapy room and two physical rehabilitation halls equipped with state-of-the-art virtual reality equipment to provide feedback to patients. Additionally, there are rooms for ergotherapy, assistive technology, and individual lessons.

The array of rehabilitation equipment and devices covers the full spectrum of functional disorders experienced by patients, including those resulting from mine and gunshot wounds. These devices enable patients to restore, particularly in the areas of walking and lost functions of the upper and lower limbs, at a high technological level.

At the Rivne center, a multidisciplinary team of specialists is responsible for rehabilitating patients. Depending on the specific needs of each wounded soldier, they are treated according to an individual program, which may involve doctors of physical rehabilitation medicine, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, speech and language therapists, and other specialists.

Victor Pinchuk, the founder of the RECOVERY project, shared, "More than 4,000 heroes have already undergone rehabilitation in our centers, and today at the opening, I spoke to the team of the Rivne RECOVERY center – a very dedicated, energetic team. I believe that they will make this center one of our flagship facilities with this equipment. My wife and I feel personally responsible; this is a very important project for us. Unfortunately, we understand that there are many more people who need and will need rehabilitation than there are beds in our centers, so we remain committed to expanding our network."

In addition to Rivne, the RECOVERY national network's rehabilitation centers offer free services in Kyiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Odesa (with two facilities), and Dnipro (with two facilities). To date, more than 4,300 patients have received rehabilitation care in the centers of the national network.

The founders of the project, Victor and Olena Pinchuk, plan to expand the network to at least 16 innovative rehabilitation centers and 700 beds by the end of 2024.
