Victor Pinchuk Foundation has covered maintenance of resuscitation equipment for Chernivtsi Cradles of Hope centre

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided support to the Cradles of Hope partner centre operating on the base of the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital, by funding maintenance of the equipment at the neonatal intensive care unit amounting UAH 54 375.

Due to a rather substantial flow of patients at that unit, the equipment has been operating for years “without being turned off”, and it periodically requires maintenance, replacement of sensors, contours etc. Under technical support for Cradles of Hope partner centres, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has been helping, among other, the neonatal intensive care at the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital. This time, the resuscitation tables, artificial lung ventilation machines, pulse oximeters and humidifiers needed immediate maintenance. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has promptly responded to the partners’ request, understanding that life of little patients depends on the continuity of operation of the equipment.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started its cooperation with the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital under the Cradles of Hope programme in May 2007 by providing the neonatal intensive care unit with up-to-date medical equipment for nursing preterm infants. Over the period of partnership, the total investment into the Cradles of Hope centre in Chernivtsi has amounted more than UAH 1.67 million.

Oleksii Kozma, head of the neonatal intensive care unit at the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital: “The neonatal intensive care unit at the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital provides for a capacity of 9 beds, however, quite often, 10 to 12 infants at once are hosted at the unit. Respectively, breaks or idle time in the equipment operation is a huge problem for our specialists, as the technical possibilities to provide quality and timely help to the babies get reduced. The repaired medical equipment is to return in the near days to the unit from the service centre, and we are sincerely grateful to the Victor Pinchuk Foundation for the many-years support and help.”

Overall, 2 977 infants received help in the newborn intensive care unit over the period of cooperation with the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital under the Cradles of Hope project (2007 – 3rd quarter 2020). According to the centre specialists, 2 553 babies were saved thanks to the equipment supplied by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
