PinchukArtCentre Presents Ukrainian Art Works in the Ukraine House Davos

Ukraine House Davos opens its doors alongside the World Economic Forum for its third consecutive year led by co-organizers Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF), Horizon Capital, and Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association. Ukraine: Creativity, Innovation, Opportunity is its theme. The House will showcase the best of the New Ukraine: a young and vibrant democracy in the heart of Europe, undergoing a massive transformation and led by a resilient, highly-educated and innovative new generation.

In addition, in Ukraine House the PinchukArtCentre presents artworks by the emerging generation of Ukrainian artists: Sasha Averbakh, Nikolai Karabinovich, and Lesia Khomenko - to demonstrate to the global leaders the new Ukraine and to provoke thought and discussion beyond the panel discourse.

Lesia Khomenko in her works represents a new way forward for a generation of Ukrainians who understand that their identity has roots in a system of the past while they are standing with both feet in the future. Her paintings in the Ukraine House are a celebration of that future. Karabinovich’s Afterhourss work engages with Ukraine's largest underground techno festival called “Brave!". This underground scene is one of the most interesting artistic expressions Ukraine brought forth in the last couple of years that has gained recognition worldwide and puts especially Kyiv on the map as a city of forward thinking and experiment. Its meetings are a source of creative output that brings together most of the young Ukrainian intellectuals, artists and creative industry. Finally, Sasha Averbakh, who represents the youngest generation of emerging Ukrainian artists, shows in her work Thicket an open and transparent society. The work is an expression of hope and positivism, two qualities that Ukraine has throughout its sometimes difficult history never lost.

On January 23, 2020, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and international investment advisory group EastOne will hold the annual Davos Ukrainian Breakfast, their traditional private event organized at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
