5th Ukrainian Lunch in Davos: "Crisis: In & Out"

On Friday, January 30th, 2009, The Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the international investment advisory group EastOne conducted the 5th Davos Ukrainian Lunch “Crisis: In & Out”.

The main topic of the discussion was the new structure of the global economic and financial relations taking shape under the influence of the crisis. Participants of the Luncheon tried to analyze the evolution of the global challenges and their effect on Ukraine, find the most advantageous ways to strengthen transnational cooperation in the view of today's realities and also define a concept for the future economic development of Ukraine in the global context, taking into account new risks and new opportunities.

The key speakers of the Davos Ukrainian Lunch included: Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine on European and International Integration Hryhoriy Nemyrya; Member of the Parliament of Ukraine, Ex-speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk; financier, investor and philanthropist George Soros; prominent columnist of The New York Times Thomas Friedman. The former European Commissioner for External Relations, Chancellor of the University of Oxford and Co-chairman of the International Crisis Group Chris Patten moderated the discussion.

The event gathered more than 200 delegates from the top world's companies, politicians and public figures from Ukraine, Russia, USA, Germany, France and other countries, as well as Ukrainian and international media representatives. The Davos Ukrainian Lunch, hosted for the 5th consecutive year since 2005, has become a traditional event conducted during the World Economic Forum and one of the most significant international events intended to shape opinions of the international elite as to the tendencies in political, economic and investment environment of Ukraine.
