4th Ukrainian Lunch in Davos: “Ukraine. What’s next?”

On Friday, January 25, 2008, within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, investment and consulting company "EastOne" and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation held the 4th luncheon "Ukraine. What`s next?". This year the main accent was put on the global challenges Ukraine faces as a part of global economic and geopolitical space.

The key speakers were: President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, 9th President of the World Bank James Wolfensohn, Director of Institute of International Economy Fred Bergstein, as well as Vice-President and Chief Managing Director of PepsiCo International Michael White. More than 100 representatives of the world leading companies, politicians and public leaders from the USA, the Russian Federation, France, Germany, Italy and other countries participated in the Luncheon.

Held for three years already, the Luncheon focuses on the issues of economic and political development of Ukraine, and has become the event of tradition within the Davos Forum. Every year representatives of the world business and political elites take part in discussion of problems related to economy, energy preparedness, investment climate and modern political scene of Ukraine. Speakers of the Ukrainian Luncheons in the previous years included: President of EBRD Jean Lemierre, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn, businessman and philanthropist George Soros, ex-president of Poland Alexander Kwasniewski, the present Head of International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss-Kahn, President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga. From the Ukrainian side, the Lunch-Conferences were attended by Viktor Yanukovych, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Mykola Azarov, Oleh Rybachuk.
