Mariko Mori arrives to Ukraine

Today, March 31 2008, Mariko Mori, one of the most notable figures in Japan's art world, has arrived to Kiev for preparing her first ever in Central and Eastern Europe personal exhibition "Oneness", to be held since April 12, at the PinchukArtCentre.

Mariko Mori's work is influenced by modern popular culture, design, fashion, music, manga, Shinto, Buddhism, and science fiction. She deals with painting, photography, 3D-video, sculpture, installations, and performance, the contrast between utopia and reality being the focus of much of her works.

Exhibition at the PinchukArtCentre covers the whole period of her creative activities from early ones where Mori was the main figure in her photographic pictures to recent striking multimedia installations and sculptures where Mori is seeking after the cosmological experience of our forefathers.

As Peter Doroshenko, the artistic director of the PinchukArtCentre, put it, Mariko Mori is one of the most seminal artists coming out of Japan in last fifty years. We are very proud of her first exhibition at Pinchuk Art Center being the largest among those ever held in Europe.
Oneness is on view at the PinchukArtCentre April 12 through June 15. Open hours: Tuesday through Sunday: 12:00 - 21:00. Closed Monday. Admission is free.
