The Victor Pinchuk Foundation ended application process for WorldWideStudies program scholarships

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has stopped accepting applications for competition under the WorldWideStudies program in 2012. The program, under which the Victor Pinchuk Foundation provides scholarships to young Ukrainians to receive Master's degrees at the world’s best 200 universities, is aimed at fostering a new generation of the Ukrainian professional elite.

This year the Foundation has received nearly 100 applications of which the priority support will be given to the candidates studying at following specialties: aerospace engineering, alternative energies, environment and ecology, agriculture, law and public administration. The Foundation will, in exceptional cases, also consider applications from other fields of study.

The next stage of the competition encompasses interviews with the independent WorldWideStudies selection panel on candidates’ study plans and on how they plan to apply the knowledge acquired upon return to Ukraine. The interviews will be conducted from May 28 till June 1, 2012. The Selection panel includes representatives from business, professional associations and educational councils.

Announcement of the competition results, and ceremony of signing the Grant Agreement between the founder of the WorldWideStudies program Victor Pinchuk and the winners of the competition will take place in late June, 2012.

In March 2012 the WorldWideStudies program of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation came into an agreement with the British Friends of the Hebrew University - a national charity dedicated to supporting and promoting the Hebrew University of Jerusalem - to enhance scholarships available for applicants from Ukraine, who wish to study agriculture at the Hebrew University. Students who applied to the Hebrew University to study at the Faculty of Agriculture will be able to get the rest of financing from the BFHU after they meet the conditions set by WorldWideStudies.

Earlier, the WorldWideStudies had already signed similar agreements with the Cambridge Overseas Trust, which supports the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), and Center for International Legal Education that provides scholarships for students at the University of Pittsburgh (USA).

Over the past two years since this program was launched, 36 young people have been awarded grants. Currently 12 winners have returned to Ukraine and started working in their respective areas; 24 grant winners continue their studies at universities around the world: USA, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, France and Germany.

Overall, since launch of the project, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has allocated UAH 7 470 235.00 for the WWS program
