Zavtra.UA scholarship holders organize the first Youth Internet Festival of Amateur Films “RANOK”

The first Youth Internet Festival of Amateur Films “RANOK”, organized by winners of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s Zavtra.UA scholarship program, has started on March 5 and will run till March 20, 2011. The festival will feature 40 films by young independent directors, unified by the common idea of exploring and covering a variety of social problems faced by modern societies, including human rights, animal and environment protection.

The Social project “Youth Internet Festival of Amateur Films “RANOK”” was developed and implemented as part of the Program to support individual initiatives of ZAVTRA.UA scholarship winners, backed by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

Volodymyr Zhyvytsky, festival coordinator, Zavtra.UA scholarship winner: “The title of the festival “RANOK” (“morning” in Ukrainian) has a hidden meaning, as each new day, each “tomorrow” begins with a MORNING. Your future starts the way you start your morning. A person and mankind decide for themselves on how to start their MORNING: with good and noble deeds or with immoral actions. The question is which way each of us will follow.”

The mission of the festival is to draw attention to the most crucial social problems which often are ignored by society and, subsequently, can be accepted as normality. The works of the young filmmakers focus on the fact that each person is responsible for what is happening around him/her, being able to effect society in a positive way.
