President of Poland (1995-2005) Alexander Kwasniewski to take part in the 4th Youth Forum of Zavtra.UA

President of Poland (1995-2005) Alexander Kwasniewski is to join the 4th Youth Forum of Zavtra.UA-2011, a program of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, which will take place from May 21 to 23 in “Prolisok” sanatorium in the town of Kozyn near Kyiv. Participants of the forum are this year’s winners of the nationwide scholarship program by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation to support the most talented Ukrainian youth – 320 students from all over Ukraine chosen by an expert commission from 1 739 competition applicants. This year 68 leading Ukrainian graduation schools have become partners of the program.

One of the key tasks of the Forum is to form a network of socially responsible youth that unites the best Ukrainian students, to motivate their social activity and engage gifted Ukrainian youth in pubic initiatives promoting development of our country and society.

This year’s topic of the Forum is “The World of Your Tomorrow: what to expect, what to be ready for, how to act”. Scholarship winners and guests of the Forum will try to forecast the most important changes expected to take place in different areas of life within the next 30 years, identify main threats faced by mankind and develop an optimal action plan for a new generation. The first two days of the Forum will be dedicated to team building and project training courses, as well as development of social projects covering such areas as culture, health, education and science, environment, human rights protection, etc.

Award ceremony and presentation of the best projects will take place on Monday, 23 May 2011. This day the scholarship holders will be presenting their projects, five of which will receive administrative and financial support from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. The award ceremony will be joined by well-known politicians, including President of Poland (1995-2005) Alexander Kwasniewski, business leaders, political and public figures. They will hold discussions with the scholars and share stories of their own success with the young Forum participants.

Since launch of Zavtra.UA, over 1400 Ukrainian students have become scholarship holders. Over the years of the program existence young scholars have implemented more than 40 social projects, including “Nature Reserve”, “Ranok” film festival, “Art Workshop”, etc. They also had a chance to participate in such interesting projects as the First Ukrainian Intellectual Youth Forum “Zavtra (Tomorrow): World, Ukraine, Me” with the 7th Secretary General of UN Kofi Annan as a special guest; attended the Yalta European Strategy (YES) summit where they met with top leaders of today: Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Nikita Khruschev and others.
