Three projects developed by Zavtra.UA scholars during the 12th Annual Youth Forum to be supported by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation

On 20-22 June, 2019, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation held the 12th Annual Youth Forum in Kyiv where the Zavtra.UA programme scholars developed 15 social projects. Upon jury’s decision, three best projects will enjoy advice and financial support of the Foundation. Level of elaboration of a project, relevance of the subject, communication skills of the team members and their willingness to contribute to the process of the country transformation were the main selection criteria.

The first place was given to project “Recycle”, aiming at promoting the second hand material recycling and improving the eco-awareness of the Ukrainian society. The project implies establishment of an eco-brand in Ukraine that would be making products of recycled material resources. The project developer team includes: Tymofii Bazyak, Olga Beznosova, Lidia Boliprukh, Oleksandr Vykhryuk, Olga Popova, Ivan Remezovsky, Anastasiia Slobodyanyuk and Yulia Chifliklii.

The second place was given to project “Democratisation” that suggests creating a table game for schoolchildren, aiming at engaging teens and youth in debating on political subjects to build a conscious community of Ukrainian citizens. The team members are Oleksandra Biryukova, Diana Dyvnych, Dmytro Kvitka, Kovalevych Ihor, Iryna Puschyk, Daria Rosokhata, Natalia Stadnik and Valeria Tykhenko.

The Third place was given to project “ChildLAB”, intended to expand the horizon and to support children’s interest in exploring the universe. The developers suggest establishing a centre where kids by themselves could carry out scientific tests, experiment and analyse outcomes of their efforts. The project development involved: Roman Gosovsky, Matia Lysianska, Olena Oliynyk, Pavlo Plotko and Mykola Khobzey.

Additionally, YEP academic business incubator network chose two teams who would have a hors concurs opportunity to join in autumn the YEP Starter: a three-months long programme helping to transform an idea into a successful start-up. This year, these are “seeHealth” and “Battie”.

“seeHealth» has been developed to help prolong life and its full value in the way of developing in the Ukrainian society the culture of preventive healthcare.

“Battie” implies creating in the KPI Park a network of street charger stations that would motivate people to work more outdoors.

The 12th Annual Youth Forum of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation's Zavtra.UA and WorldWideStudies (WWS) scholarship programmes brought together about 400 scholarship holders, including 9 WorldWideStudies grantees going to study abroad to get a Master’s degree at the world’s best universities and 100 new Zavtra.UA scholars. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, businessman and philanthropist Victor Pinchuk and Richard C. Levin Professor of History at Yale University and a permanent fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna Timothy Snyder took part at the official opening of the Forum.
