Kwasniewski believes that Ukraine is striving for political brawl but not for EU

Poland's former president Alexander Kwasniewski believes that since the last parliamentary elections Ukraine has failed to give any clear political signals to the European Union.

«Ukraine is wasting its precious time for minor political brawls, rather than pushing towards European perspective», - said Kwasniewski in Lviv, as quoted by Radio «Svoboda».

«It has been one year since the elections, however Ukraine still remains politically unpredictable for Europe», - added he.
Poland's former president specified several difficulties Ukraine is facing on its way to EU.

First and foremost, he believes that European countries are looking at relations with Ukraine through «the prism of Russian context, particularly at how such relations may influence relations between Europe and Russia».

«The second issue, and Ukraine has nothing to do with it, is that the European Union is experience weariness depression, since quite a few leaders and people speak out against EU expansion. Ukraine should think over what to do so that Germans, Frenchmen, Dutchmen, Englishmen, Spaniards would believe that EU expansion really makes sense and that there is a place for Ukraine. And therefore, Ukraine must be more energetic in order to accomplish this task», - Kwasniewski told.

He believes that the Ukrainian president and the premier «must set up a very efficient coordination and cooperation between different authorities for the State's benefit, and Ukrainian people should instil self-confidence and believe that Ukraine IS in Europe».

«The world should be aware of what the president, the premier and the opposition are doing. During my presidency there were 6 instances of the government change, however the polish policy was always predictable. This is, actually, what the European community required from Ukraine», - said Kwasniewski.
