 Ukrainian businessman Victor Pinchuk's art collection includes works by Carsten Holler, Xavier Veilhan and Olafur Eliasson, among others. In Seplember 2006, he opened the first contemporary art center in the Ukraine. Designed by french architect Philippe Chiambaretta, the futurist building boasts 2,600 square meters on the top three floors of the Arena building, opposite the Bessarabskaya Market. French art critic Nicolas Bourriaud convinced him to create a dialogue between the international art scene and Ukiainian artists. Originally perceived as a UFO in in the artistic sphere, the Pinchuk Art Centre is constantly packed and recently persuaded Elton John to exhibit works from his collection of contemporary photographs.
