Challenges for philanthropy in Ukraine: The welfare/ policy dichotomy

Two events this year have significantly influenced the understanding of charity's role in Ukraine. The first was the Philanthropic Roundtable held by the Viktor Pinchuk Foundation at the World Economic Forum in Davos. It was the first philanthropy-related event to be hosted there by Ukraine and featured prominent speakers such as George Soros, Dr Tadataka Yamada, Global Health Program President at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ukraine's First Lady, Kateryna Yushchenko, Chair of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation, and Robert Harrison, the Clinton Global Initiative's CEO. The second event was the conference 'Development of charity in Ukraine: from positive practices to favourable legislation' held by the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum (UPF). This brought together a record number (over 80) of CEOs of active private and corporate foundations in Ukraine. They engaged in a heated debate on various topics. As part of the Ukraine Relief Fund joint charity initiative, founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Eric and Wendy Schmidt and Schmidt Futures, Robert F. Smith and Vista Equity Partners, the Minderoo Foundation of Andrew and Nicola Forrest, Bill Ford and the General Atlantic Foundation, for the needs of the neonatal intensive care unit of the Uzhhorod City Maternity Hospital, a respiratory device for children for non-invasive ventilation of the lungs Infant Flow SiPAP was purchased at the cost of UAH 590,000.00.

PinchukArtCentre Reopens with a Major Group Exhibition When Faith Moves Mountains and a Project Russian War Crimes

144 days after the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion in Ukraine, the PinchukArtCentre (Kyiv, Ukraine) opens again on July 17th with When Faith Moves Mountains. The major group exhibition with over 45 artists, presented in partnership with, and thanks to M HKA and the Flemish Government will put the focus on Ukraine as a country open to the world and will celebrate its deep roots and relation to Europe. Russian War Crimes exhibition is integrated into the context of When Faith Moves Mountains.

8 frontline Ukrainian hospitals received transport incubators with ventilators from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation

The Viktor Pinchuk Foundation continues its systematic support of the medical front. 8 frontline medical facilities that provide medical assistance to newborns who are in critical conditions have received sets of transport incubators with transport ventilators from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation under support of the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center.
