ArtReview ranks Victor Pinchuk 37th among the most influential figures in contemporary art

In the 2010 Power 100 ranking of ArtReview magazine Ukrainian businessman, public figure and founder of the PinchukArtCentre Victor Pinchuk is ranked #37.

The Power 100 ranking, published each year at this time, is a comprehensive listing of the artworld’s most powerful figures. Entrants are ranked according to a combination of influence over the production of art internationally, financial clout and activity in the previous 12 months. Artists, collectors, gallerists and curators are included in the ranking, as well as organizers of major art fairs and museum and foundation directors.

Victor Pinchuk is included in the list for the third time – in 2009 and 2008 he was ranked 53rd and 67th respectively.

ArtReview on Victor Pinchuk’s move upwards in the Power 100 ranking: “This year he has widened his influence by joining the board of MOCA in Los Angeles and establishing the Future Generation Art Prize, an international prize for young artists. Attracting a jury that includes Daniel Birnbaum, Robert Storr and Ai Weiwei, the biennial prize will see an artist under thirty-five (from an already published shortlist) awarded $100,000 this December.”

This year’s Power 100 top five figures include gallerists Larry Gagosian, Iwan Wirth and David Zwirner, Swiss curator Hans Ulrich Obrist and director of MoMA Glenn D. Lowry.
