Participants of the 4th Davos Philanthropic Roundtable are to create spin paintings together with Damien Hirst

Participants of the 4th Davos Philanthropic Roundtable, organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, together with an honoured guest of the event - British artist Damien Hirst – will have a chance to create their own works of art using the spin painting machines, designed by the artist and specially delivered to Davos for this occasion.

The spin painting by Damien Hirst is one of a series that Hirst has created throughout his career: “I really like making them. And I really like the machine, and I really like the movement. The movement sort of implies life. It’s the way the atoms move inside our bodies, it's the way the planet moves that we stand on. And the way all the other planets in space move around ours. Every time a painting's finished, I'm desperate to do another one."

The overarching topic of the 4th Davos Philanthropic Roundtable entitled “modernARTization: Art and Philanthropy Changing Societies” will be the role of art and philanthropy in a society’s transformation. The panel brings together Richard Armstrong, Director, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and Museum (USA); Jeff Koons, artist, (USA); H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Chairperson, Qatar Museums Authority Board of Trustees (Qatar), Chairperson of a philanthropic non-governmental organization Reach Out To Asia (ROTA); Bernardo Paz, businessman and philanthropist, founder of the “Inhotim” contemporary art museum (Brazil) and Olafur Eliasson, artist, (Denmark). Among the special guests will be artist Damien Hirst (Great Britain) and Rachel Teagle, Director of the New Children’s Museum (USA) and also writer Paulo Coelho (Brazil) as moderator of the discussion.

Overall, more than 300 people have signed in for participation in the 4th Philanthropic Roundtable, including the World Economic Forum participants, representatives of business, media, philanthropic and non-profit organisations.
